From Studio Dreams to Addiction: My Fight Against Drugs After COVID
I was raised in a Muslim family with strong faith and love for all. After secondary school I learned music production and broadcasting. I settled into a small studio and dreamed of supporting a family. Then the COVID-19 lockdown came and my studio was burgled. All my equipment was stolen. We were evicted over unpaid rent and I couldn’t access any relief packages. Shame and hunger kept me trapped at home. I struggled to find work and saw many producers smoking daily. I felt rejected and finally began using hemp and pills just to fit in. My addiction grew fast and I sank into debt while my daughter’s health worsened. In February I managed to quit drugs after disciplining myself. But I still have no shelter, no income, and no way to care for my sick daughter. In all your challenges, drugs are never a solution. They only destroy dreams.
