Bianca Ojukwu’s Ethiopian Prison Visit Sparks Debate on Tribal Solidarity
I read about Bianca Ojukwu’s trip to an Ethiopian prison. The photos show her warmly embracing mainly Igbo inmates. Many had not bathed or changed for days, yet she laughed and joked with them like family. Back in Nigeria, I struggle to understand how brutal acts can occur without widespread outrage. In one recent attack in Yorubaland, a man was killed and a toddler was taken. The reaction seemed muted. I believe such violence would spark nationwide anger if it happened in the South East. Meanwhile, Fulani herders continue attacks across the country. Over ten traditional rulers have been killed or kidnapped, and many communities feel at risk. Bianca’s visit reminds us that compassion should transcend tribal lines. We need stronger national unity and protection for all Nigerians.
