Southern Nigeria Chiefs Unite to Support National Development
At their April 23 meeting in Port Harcourt, the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council reaffirmed its commitment to unity and national progress. The event was declared open by the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara. The gathering brought together council members and state chairmen from the South-South, South-East and South-West zones. Ooni of Ife Oba Dr. Enitan Ogunwusi thanked everyone for their dedication and stressed the council’s apolitical stance. They adopted resolutions for broader representation, clearer communication and a stronger regional voice in national affairs. Traditional rulers from Edo, Enugu, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Ogun and Delta called for sustained peace, reconciliation and structural reforms. They pledged ongoing support for the President’s economic empowerment and stability policies.
