Nigerian Navy Destroys Suspected Militant Camp in Soku, Rivers State
The Nigerian Navy has neutralised a suspected militant hideout in the Soku axis of Rivers State as part of its campaign against maritime crime. According to an operational report by the Director of Naval Information, credible intelligence led officers aboard NNS SOROH to the location of a new camp. Troops discovered recent signs of activity and seized communication devices, industrial hoses intended for crude theft, and other equipment. The team then destroyed the camp to prevent its future use in illegal bunkering, kidnapping, pipeline vandalism, and sea robbery. The operation highlights the navy’s intelligence-led strategy to deny militant groups operational bases. It also underscores ongoing collaboration with security agencies and host communities to strengthen maritime domain awareness and safeguard Nigeria’s waterways.
