Enugu Shuts Down Three Illegal Clinics to Uphold Healthcare Standards
Enugu State Ministry of Health sealed three unlicensed health facilities operating without licences in Enugu South LGA. The action was carried out on Friday by the Monitoring and Supervision Team led by the Director of Medical Services, Dr Chinyere Ezeudu. The move aims to assess service quality, staff performance, infrastructure and compliance with government health policies. Dr Ezeudu stressed that the exercise supports continuous improvement rather than targeting staff unfairly. State Commissioner for Health, Prof George Ugwu, said routine monitoring strengthens accountability and ensures residents receive quality care. He highlighted the commitment of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s administration to accessible, people-centred healthcare. Residents welcomed the direct oversight, noting it will restore trust in public, mission-owned and private facilities across the council area.
