‘Indian Hemp’ to Blame? Lawal Debunks ADC Faction’s Suspension of Atiku
Fresh controversy has erupted in the African Democratic Congress after a faction in Adamawa State claimed to have suspended former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other party figures. Babachir Lawal rejected the move as baseless and irrational. He accused the faction leaders of being under the influence of “heavy Indian hemp” and lacking any real authority in the party. The claim came from Raji Zumo, who said he had the power to discipline Atiku, Lawal, and the party’s transition committee chairman. This announcement drew swift backlash from within the ADC. Adamawa ADC chairman Shehu Yohanna distanced the party from Zumo’s statement. He described the suspension as unfounded and questioned Zumo’s position and credibility.
