Abuja Court Sentences Mother of Three to 10 Years for Fatal Neighbour Stabbing

A 27-year-old mother of three from Kubwa, Abuja, has been jailed for 10 years after stabbing her neighbour to death. Immaculate Chukwudi was found guilty of culpable homicide under Section 225 of the Penal Code. Justice Idris Mohammed ruled the offence carried a maximum sentence of 14 years and ordered her term to run from her May 2024 arraignment. Prosecution told the court Chukwudi stabbed 18-year-old Salamatu Yinusa in the chest on March 12. The defence had urged leniency, citing her lack of prior record and the welfare of her young children.
