Gagdi Says Atiku and Obi Unprepared to Challenge Tinubu in 2027

Chairman of the House Navy Committee Hon. Yusuf Gagdi told a national TV programme that neither Atiku Abubakar nor Peter Obi has built the organisation needed to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election. He argued the ruling APC remains far ahead in grassroots mobilisation, pointing to a year of sustained party activities nationwide and questioning any opposition plan to outdo them. Gagdi recalled that Peter Obi struggled to win seats in Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam, while he himself won his election by 31,000 votes. He also warned against using Nigeria’s security challenges for political gain instead of offering solutions.

It's striking that Gagdi highlights APC's lead in mobilisation but offers little evidence on how Atiku or Obi lag organisationally.

Focusing on local chapters and youth outreach right now could help any opposition candidate close that grassroots gap ahead of 2027.
