Decoding Your JAMB CAPS 2026 Status: What Each Message Means and Next Steps
Good day everyone. JAMB CAPS can show several messages that confuse many candidates about their actual admission chances. Below is a concise guide to each status and clear actions to take or avoid. NOT ADMITTED: This is the default status until your chosen school processes your file. Check CAPS every two days, confirm your O’level results are fully uploaded, and prepare for Post-UTME. Don’t panic or rush into Change of Course. ADMISSION IN PROGRESS: A very good sign – your name is shortlisted and under review. About 90% of candidates here secure admission. Wait patiently and verify your data. Avoid changing course now to keep your spot. RECOMMENDED: Your school has approved you and sent your name to JAMB HQ. Expect final approval in 3–14 days; the accept/reject button is not active yet. ADMISSION OFFERED/APPROVED: Final approval from both your school and JAMB. You have 7–14 days to accept; act within 48 hours or forfeit the offer. AWAITING RESULT: Indicates missing or unsuccessful O’level upload. Visit an accredited CBT centre to complete your result upload immediately. TRANSFER APPROVED: Your course has been changed by the school. Accept or reject within seven days. ADMISSION DENIED: Your school has permanently rejected the application. Use the Change of Course window to explore other options. Three mistakes to avoid: changing course on a “Not Admitted” status, delaying acceptance, and checking CAPS too frequently. For best results, check once every two days before mid-July, then daily between 7–9 AM from July to September. If you see any other status or remain confused, drop it below and I’ll clarify.
