Debunking Obidient Myths on the Kano–Maradi Rail Loan

I watched a video from a self-styled commentator who spread blatant lies about the Chinese-financed Kano–Maradi rail project. He showed an old disused narrow-gauge track and claimed the Buhari administration borrowed funds to rebuild it. In reality, the current project is a brand-new standard-gauge railway built from scratch. It bears no relation to the abandoned colonial-era lines he highlighted. Scroll through the comments and you’ll see how many Obidient followers have taken this misinformation as fact. It shows how easily false narratives can spread online.

Has anyone checked the actual loan terms and reported lenders for the Kano–Maradi rail to confirm these claims?

It's odd how the commentator ignored official project plans and budgets before claiming Buhari borrowed funds for an old narrow-gauge line.

I'm not convinced that showing an old narrow-gauge track disproves the entire funding narrative for this new project.

Instead of relying on that video, we could review the published Ministry of Transportation reports for clear funding breakdown.
