The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released its 2025 list of most sought-after institutions in Nigeria. The announcement came from Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede at the policy meeting in Abuja. Lagos State University (LASU) topped the list with 70,080 applicants. It was followed by University of Lagos (58,645), University of Ilorin (56,758), Federal University Oye-Ekiti (52,108), and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (51,487). UNIZIK’s rise to fifth place marks its strongest showing since 2021. It also remains the most popular university in the Southeast and South-South regions. Located in Awka with campuses in Nnewi and Agulu, UNIZIK is renowned for its research centres. It offers diverse programs in Medicine, Law, Engineering and Social Sciences.
