Abia Police Nab Two for Attempted Abduction of Two-Week-Old Baby

The Abia State Police Command has arrested two people for allegedly trying to steal a two-week-old infant in Olokoro community on May 25. Police say 24-year-old Nzubechi Chinagorom forced her way into 32-year-old Amarachi Chinyereugo’s home. When the mother resisted, the suspect stabbed her with a kitchen knife. The baby fell and hit her head. Her accomplice, 25-year-old Chinonso Chibundu, acted as a lookout outside. Both suspects fled but were later caught at a nearby bus stop with suspected hard drugs. Authorities confirm the mother and child were rushed to hospital, treated and have since recovered. Exhibits have been recovered and an investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department will precede charges on June 2.
