Tinubu Commissions Bwari Water Network, Pledges Action Over Excuses

Tinubu Commissions Bwari Water Network, Pledges Action Over Excuses

President Bola Tinubu has commissioned a new 98-kilometre water supply network in Bwari, FCT, marking progress under his Renewed Hope Agenda. He was represented at the inauguration by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. The project will deliver treated water from the Usuma Dam to Bwari, Ushafa and neighboring communities. Tinubu said access to clean water is a basic right, not a luxury, and vowed to extend similar infrastructure across Nigeria. He recalled reviewing a plan from the FCT Minister and mobilizing resources to end the reliance on untreated boreholes and streams. The new pipeline is expected to improve public health and reduce waterborne diseases in the area.

The First Lady stood in for the president, but commissioning a pipeline is only the first step in reliable water access.

Excuses won't fill leaky pipes; I'd like to see detailed maintenance plans, not just grand inaugurations.

Local communities should form monitoring committees to track water quality and report any disruption quickly.
