How Serverless Computing and Quantum Cloud Services Could Reshape Enterprise Tech

Serverless computing is changing how companies build applications. Instead of managing servers, developers run event-driven functions and pay only when those functions execute. This model supports scalable APIs, AI workloads, IoT systems and data pipelines. Quantum Computing-as-a-Service (QCaaS) could extend this approach by making quantum processors available through cloud APIs. A serverless function could prepare data, send a complex optimisation or simulation task to a quantum processor, then process the result when it returns. For technology leaders, the opportunity is to begin testing hybrid classical-quantum workflows in areas such as logistics, finance, risk modelling and drug discovery. However, quantum jobs can be costly, and teams must plan for security, access control, monitoring and specialised skills. The practical step is to design modular cloud systems that can experiment with quantum services without replacing existing infrastructure. Small pilots can help organisations assess cost, performance and real business value before quantum hardware becomes more mature.
