Kogi Sets ₦150m Campaign Signage Fee for 2027 Presidential Candidates
Kogi State has approved new fees for political campaign materials ahead of the 2027 general elections and the October 2026 local government polls. Presidential candidates will pay ₦150 million to place campaign signage and other promotional materials across the state. Senatorial candidates will pay ₦50 million, House of Representatives candidates ₦30 million, and State House of Assembly candidates ₦5 million. For the local government elections, chairmanship candidates will pay ₦2 million, while councillorship candidates will pay ₦300,000. The state says the charges will regulate political advertising, curb unauthorised materials and raise revenue. Kogi officials said the rules apply to every party, including the APC. Materials displayed without approval or payment may be removed, and violators could face prosecution.
