Hotel Robbery Strikes Ghana’s Black Stars in Vienna Ahead of Austria Friendly

Ghana’s Black Stars camp in Vienna was marred by a hotel theft, local sports radio reports via a soccer news outlet. Players began training on Monday after arriving on Sunday. During Wednesday’s session, two players discovered their Rolex watches, worth around $20,000, were missing. The next day, a member of the technical staff reported about $2,250 in cash had vanished from their room. Team officials alerted local police, but investigations were hampered by faulty security cameras. The Black Stars management has since involved Vienna Police to help identify those responsible. Despite the setback, Ghana face Austria at Ernst-Happel-Stadion today at 17:00 GMT. Coach Otto Addo’s squad will then travel to Stuttgart for a friendly against Germany on March 30 as part of final World Cup preparations.

Not sure they'd let one incident derail preparations. These pros usually keep focus tight.

It's strange that professional security wouldn't catch such a bold hotel theft before players even started their training.

Team officials should conduct a quick security audit of hotel premises before training sessions to prevent similar incidents.
