Governor Biodun Oyebanji has unveiled a new 35-bed Mother and Child Maternity Complex at the State Specialist Hospital in Ikere Ekiti. The facility was generously donated by former NBA president Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN). The project is set to strengthen maternal and child healthcare across the state and complements ongoing efforts to expand quality medical services for residents. Dignitaries at the commissioning included Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, former governors Segun Oni, Bisi Akande and Olusegun Mimiko, the Ooni of Ife, members of the national and state assemblies, and the Federal Health Minister’s representative. Governor Oyebanji described the donation as a landmark partnership and urged other indigenes to support state development. Chief Olanipekun said the facility aims to reduce preventable maternal and child deaths and improve healthcare access.

Local health authorities should partner with community groups to ensure expectant mothers know about available services at the new facility.
