Speak with Integrity: Let Your ‘Yes’ Be Yes, Your ‘No’ Be No

In Matthew 5:34-37, Jesus warns against making oaths by heaven, earth, Jerusalem or our own head. Such promises go beyond our control and distract from honest speech. He calls us to simple, truthful communication: “Yea, yea; nay, nay.” Anything more, He says, comes from evil. By avoiding elaborate oaths, we honour God and build trust with others. May we all commit to integrity in our words and let every promise be made with sincerity. Amen.
