Nigeria Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team Make History, Qualify for Glasgow 2026

Captain Ijigbamigbe Gbemisola Olubisi inspired a remarkable turnaround, guiding her side from a 7–3 group-stage defeat to clinch the lone ticket ahead of the tournament favourites. Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Federation president Seyi Johnson hailed the achievement as “monumental” and credited the National Sports Commission’s leadership for fostering the sport’s growth. The men’s team, however, fell just short with a 13–8 loss to South Africa in their final.
