Flood and Gully Erosion Ravage Obosi, Ogidi as Umeh Seeks Federal Intervention

Senator Victor Umeh has visited Obosi and Ogidi in Idemili North, Anambra State, following severe flooding and gully erosion that damaged homes, farms and major roads. Umeh said the scale of destruction is beyond what the state government can handle alone. He pledged to press the Federal Ministry of Environment, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and NEMA for urgent relief and erosion-control intervention. Residents said the disaster has displaced families, destroyed household belongings and crops, and submerged parts of Ogidi, including sections of the old Awka-Onitsha Road. An erosion-control assessment for the affected area is reportedly estimated at more than ₦2.2 billion.
