Governor Zulum Dissolves Borno State Cabinet Ahead of 2027 Elections

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has announced the immediate dissolution of the Borno State Executive Council, effectively sacking all commissioners. He said the measure will enable any commissioner who wishes to run in the 2027 general elections to do so without holding an executive post. Affected commissioners have been directed to hand over their ministries to permanent secretaries by Friday, April 3, 2026. The governor thanked the outgoing commissioners for their dedication, commitment, and contributions to the development of Borno State.

Those aiming to contest should focus on building grassroots support early rather than relying solely on a cabinet reset strategy.
