BOI and GIZ Join Forces to Boost MSME Growth and Sustainable Finance in Nigeria
Nigeria’s Bank of Industry (BOI) has signed a partnership with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to drive sustainable business development and economic growth nationwide. The deal will enhance access to finance, entrepreneurship training, and market opportunities for both large enterprises and MSMEs. The collaboration will build the capacity of BOI’s Business Development Service Providers. It will also expand vocational training under the ICSS (Inspire, Create, Start and Scale) programme. These efforts aim to boost productivity and competitiveness across the private sector. A key focus is climate finance and renewable energy investments. The partnership also prioritises women’s economic empowerment, agribusiness, and rural enterprise growth. BOI will seek accreditation from the Green Climate Fund with GIZ’s technical support. Senior leaders from both organisations say the collaboration combines BOI’s financing strength with GIZ’s development expertise. They expect it to drive job creation, innovation, and measurable impact for businesses and communities.
