Amaechi Almost Quit ADC Over ‘Pampering’ Peter Obi, Says Abdullahi
Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC national publicity secretary, says Rotimi Amaechi threatened to leave the party over Peter Obi’s special treatment. He spoke in a TV interview. Abdullahi was responding to Obi’s claim that internal battles and court cases drove him to leave ADC for the NDC on May 3. He argued that Obi enjoyed more privileges than any opposition leader in the coalition. He recalled Amaechi lodging a complaint with party chairman David Mark about concessions made to Obi, including nominees to key party positions. ADC even allowed Obi to nominate someone as national organising secretary. Abdullahi defended these concessions as necessary for coalition unity. He also denied that former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar controls ADC, accused governors of diverting federal funds to a presidential campaign, and described the judiciary as compromised.
