DSS Arraigns Five for Allegedly Hiding Former Gov. Sylva in Coup Plot

The Department of State Services has arraigned five Nigerians before the Federal High Court in Abuja over accusations that they concealed former Bayelsa Governor Timipre Sylva. He is accused of masterminding an alleged coup plot against President Bola Tinubu. Suspects Reuben Ayuba, Musa Mohammed, Friday Paul, Paganengigha Anagaha and Ayebaifife Suobite pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy and harboring a fugitive. Justice Peter Lifu granted each bail at ₦5 million with two sureties but ordered them remanded at Kuje Correctional Centre pending fulfilment of bail conditions. The court adjourned the case until July 22, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
