FG Unveils New SOPs to Reintegrate Ex–Terrorists

FG Unveils New SOPs to Reintegrate Ex–Terrorists

Nigeria’s Federal Government has launched an operational framework to improve the reintegration of former terrorists and armed actors. The National Counter Terrorism Centre rolled out standard operating procedures at a validation workshop in Abuja and pilot states Kaduna, Katsina and Zamfara. The new guidelines translate the National Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration framework into concrete steps. They clearly define the roles of security and civilian agencies to ensure coordinated, transparent and accountable implementation of DDR programmes. Developed through extensive stakeholder consultations and informed by both national security realities and international best practices, the SOPs aim to support non-military efforts for lasting peace in conflict-affected communities.
