NIPOST Plans Unique Digital Postcodes for Every Building in Nigeria
The Nigerian Postal Service has unveiled a plan to assign unique digital addresses to all buildings nationwide. At a validation event in Abuja, the Postmaster General outlined a machine-readable system to modernise how locations are identified. The project promises to boost logistics, emergency response, governance, and planning through accurate address data. It will respect existing administrative boundaries and adapt to Nigeria’s diverse geography. Validation will compare aerial mapping with ground realities, ensuring postcode boundaries reflect building density and topography across states. This initiative aims to replace inconsistent address systems with a fully digital framework for improved service delivery.
