APC Supporters in Jos Stage Massive Protests Over Alleged Primary Fraud
A wave of protests and demonstrations has erupted across Jos as aggrieved APC members accuse party leaders of manipulating the outcome of recent primaries. Various groups claim internal democracy was undermined, citing violations of the Electoral Act and imposition of candidates ahead of the 2027 elections. In Bassa LGA, women and widows marched to demand the recognition of Alhaji Abdullahi Yusuf Incham, who they say legitimately won 15 of 16 wards. They warned that approving a consensus candidate without proper voting threatens the party’s credibility. A coalition of top aspirants, including Senator Diket Plang and Ambassador Chris Giwa, has petitioned the state Election Appeal Committee to nullify and rerun the primaries. They allege fabricated results and undue pressure for aspirants to step down without written agreements. Tensions peaked in Jos North when youths burned APC flags to denounce efforts to block Hon. Adamu Aliyu’s mandate. Protests spread to Angwan Rukuba Junction as supporters of another aspirant demanded that every vote cast be counted.
