Johnson and Kayode Accuse National Assembly of Abdicating Oversight, Mismanaging Trillions
Barrister Ladipo Johnson criticised the National Assembly for abandoning its constitutional duty. He said many lawmakers now act as an extension of the executive and ignore their oversight role. Johnson pointed to repeated extensions of capital budget implementation. He warned that this shows a lack of fiscal discipline and erodes public trust in legislators. Dr. Dayo Kayode urged stronger independence for anti-corruption and security agencies like the EFCC and DSS. He highlighted recent disputes over NNPC scrutiny and alleged collusion against Adams Oshiomhole. Kayode also questioned allegations linked to funds and the 2023 presidential campaign of Atiku Abubakar. He asked which accusations have been proven in court.
