Taiwo Awoniyi Set for Coventry City Move After Nottingham Forest Deal

Taiwo Awoniyi Set for Coventry City Move After Nottingham Forest Deal

Coventry City have agreed a permanent deal to sign Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Awoniyi is undergoing a medical before the move is completed. The 29-year-old is expected to join Super Eagles teammate Frank Onyeka at Coventry City and work under manager Frank Lampard. Awoniyi joined Nottingham Forest from Union Berlin in 2022. He scored four goals and provided one assist in 17 league appearances last season, but slipped behind Chris Wood and Igor Jesus in the club’s attacking options. The move could give him a fresh chance for regular football.

A permanent move could offer Awoniyi a fresh chapter, and linking up with a Super Eagles teammate may help him settle.

The deal sounds positive, but it is worth waiting until the medical is completed before treating the move as fully done.

If completed, the key will be regular minutes and a clear role at Coventry rather than just the transfer announcement.
