Buratai Hails Gen. Magoro as National Hero on 85th Birthday
Former Chief of Army Staff Tukur Buratai has praised retired Major General Muhammadu Magoro on his 85th birthday, calling him “a national hero and general par excellence.” Buratai highlighted Magoro’s service during the Civil War and his tenure as Internal Affairs Minister and senator in the Second Republic. He noted the elder statesman’s example of discipline, leadership and his traditional title as Mutawallen of Kebbi Kingdom. He recalled reconnecting with Magoro at the 25th anniversary of the Arewa Consultative Forum in Kaduna and thanked him for mentoring younger officers. “Nigeria salutes you for your sacrifices and enduring service,” Buratai said.
