ASUU Threatens Fresh Strike Over Unmet 2025 Agreement
The Academic Staff Union of Universities has warned of a possible nationwide strike. This follows growing frustration over the Federal Government’s failure to implement key welfare and funding clauses in the 2025 FG-ASUU agreement. At its NEC meeting in Yola, ASUU accused both federal and state authorities of distorting critical aspects of the landmark pact. The union highlighted that the Implementation Monitoring Committee, designed to oversee execution, remains inactive. ASUU president Prof. Christopher Piwuna cautioned that lecturers’ pent-up anger could erupt into industrial unrest unless the government honors its commitments.
