Olubadan Hails Oyo School Rescue, Urges Sustained Action Against Kidnappers
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has described the rescue of abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State as a possible turning point in Nigeria’s fight against kidnapping. Speaking during a visit by Oyo traditional rulers to President Bola Tinubu in Abuja, Ladoja praised the security agencies for securing the victims’ release after they reportedly spent 56 days in captivity. The victims were abducted in Oriire Local Government Area. Reports say the government rejected ransom demands and relied on intelligence-led operations. Eight suspects were reportedly arrested, while other suspected kidnappers were killed during the operation. Ladoja urged the Federal Government to sustain security operations and surveillance in the forests around Oyo and neighbouring states. He warned that criminals could regroup if security personnel withdraw too soon.
