1 / 2

Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo has alleged that cash was stolen from her wallet and those of some teammates at their hotel in Casablanca, Morocco, ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Okoronkwo said she initially believed that $500 was missing before recounting the money and revising the amount to $700. She alleged that the cash was taken while the players were out of their rooms and accused housekeeping staff of being responsible. The hotel staff had not publicly responded to the allegation. Despite the incident, Nigeria have continued their tournament preparations. The 10-time African champions begin their title defence against Malawi before facing Zambia and Egypt in Group C.
