Bandits Slay 23 Farmers in Zamfara’s Sauna Community
Gunmen attacked farmers at work in Sauna/Ruwan Gora in Talata Mafara LGA, Zamfara State, killing 23 people. A witness told a local newspaper the bandits passed through the village around 2pm without harming anyone. They later returned and opened fire on those working on their farms, pursuing and shooting anyone who tried to escape. Residents have prepared the bodies for a mass burial and appealed to Governor Dauda Lawal and the federal government to step up security. They warned that continued attacks could lead to a food crisis in the state. Another source said the death toll might rise to 25 as efforts to confirm all casualties are ongoing.
