Hope Deferred vs. Authority Enforced: Comparing INEC Under Yakubu and Amupitan

Hope Deferred vs. Authority Enforced: Comparing INEC Under Yakubu and Amupitan

The INEC led by Mahmood Yakubu promises transparency and confidence. He travels the country and addresses international bodies, outlining a strong system and electronic transmission of results. Yet, on election day, all efforts can collapse into claims of “technical glitches” and calls to “go to court.” In contrast, a Joash Amupitan–led INEC would abandon subtle persuasion. He would strictly enforce party alignment, delist dissenting groups, and interpret court judgments as he chooses. Victory comes only when your interests align perfectly with his. Where Yakubu offers hope and then withdraws it, Amupitan never offers that glimpse. One system lures you forward; the other bars the gate from the start. Written by Ekene Aninze Esq.
