Ibadan to Host Nigeria’s First Poetry Conference on Activism and Change
Poetry Enclave (POEN), Ibadan, will hold the maiden Nigerian Poetry Conference (NIPOCON 2026) on August 7–8, 2026. The event, themed “Poetry for Activism and Change,” will take place at The Elders’ Place in Ibadan, Oyo State. The two-day programme will bring together poets, scholars, performers and social advocates for a keynote address by Dr. Akin Tella, panel discussions, poetry readings, performances and networking sessions. Dr. David Adewole will serve as Chief Host. Registration costs ₦20,000 per participant and covers an Ankara shirt, conference bag, book and certificate, writing materials, welcome cocktail, lunch and closing dinner. Backed by leading literary organisations and media partners, NIPOCON 2026 aims to highlight poetry’s role in driving social justice, cultural dialogue and creative collaboration across Nigeria.
