Akataka Demands Arrest of APC Thugs After Violent Attack on NDC Meeting in Owerri
Panic and confusion gripped members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Owerri on Tuesday, 14 July 2026. A bus-load of APC thugs stormed their thank-you gathering at Umuoyima Town Hall, beating attendees, destroying chairs, tables and sound equipment worth millions of naira, and snatching more than ten phones. Witnesses say the attackers used a black Imo State Government House bus marked “Office of the Governor, Monitoring/Compliance” and were led by known APC chieftains who hid inside while the violence lasted. NDC candidate Nze Asika Agoh, known as Akataka, described the invasion as barbaric and undemocratic. He urged security agencies to investigate the attack immediately and bring the perpetrators to justice. “The people have a right to assemble peacefully,” he said. Party members vow to stay united and continue mobilizing for the 2027 elections. The police have not yet issued an official statement on the incident, and many Imo citizens are watching closely.
