Aro 1902 Loot Exposed: Reclaim Our Constitution and Crown
One carver. Two palaces. One colonial lie. In 1902 British forces looted our legal charter—the Ihu Stone of Aro—and catalogued it at Pitt Rivers Museum as accession 1902.20.6. They also took the throne, crown, and regalia of Tomuagu Palace, now split between the British Museum and the National Museum Ireland. These artifacts are not mere art. They are the foundation of Arochukwu’s government and my family’s legacy. For 120 years, our constitution and crown have been held far from home under the label “ethnographic art.” We demand that Pitt Rivers release photos and full records of accession 1902.20.6, that the British Museum publish the inventory for Board 2 OMG-3, and that the National Museum Ireland list all 1902 Aro Expedition items. This is our fight. Deadline: September 16, 2026. Share if you stand with Aro.
