FUD Publishes Names of Lecturers Who Skipped Bond Obligations and Owe Millions

FUD Publishes Names of Lecturers Who Skipped Bond Obligations and Owe Millions

The Federal University Dutse has released a list of staff who failed to return to duty after completing sponsored academic programmes. A public notice signed by the Registrar shows these lecturers breached their bond terms by either resigning or not resuming service. Outstanding liabilities range from about ₦3.8 million to over ₦18 million. Measures against defaulters include salary suspension, formal notices of indebtedness and referrals to the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee. Some staff have already made partial repayments. The university reminded all beneficiaries that they must honour bond agreements or face further disciplinary action and debt-recovery efforts.

Has anyone wondered how the university plans to recover millions from lecturers who skipped their bond obligations?

Do we have any details on the university's strategy to reclaim that money from defaulting lecturers?

It seems odd that so many lecturers would ignore a legal bond without any immediate consequences mentioned in the notice.

I'm not convinced these staff all deserved public shaming—some may have genuine reasons for not resuming after their programmes.

Perhaps the university should introduce a clear repayment schedule and follow transparent processes to recover owed funds efficiently.
