Abducted Fulani Man Clarifies: Kidnappers Are Foreign, Not Nigerian Herdsmen
1 / 2
I am Fulani and rely on my businesses to survive, not on kidnapping. When I was abducted, I saw six men speaking a different Fulani dialect. None were Nigerian. They spoke Hausa with someone guiding them by phone. They even asked us to taste their food first, as if we were animals. They treated captured Chinese the same way and demanded ransom before release. Most Nigerian Fulani are peaceful. Those tarnishing our name are foreign criminals. We face stigma everywhere, even when our cattle stray into farms. This abuse of our tribe must stop.
