Christina Bawa Takes Over as SWAN Jos Chair, Pledges Mentorship for Women Accountants
Christina Olawunmi Bawa has been inaugurated as Chairperson of the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN), Jos Chapter. She pledged to prioritise professionalism, accountability, mentorship, member engagement and career opportunities for younger female accountants. Bawa said her leadership would promote continuous professional development, strategic partnerships, community-impact programmes and stronger visibility for the association within ICAN and beyond. She urged members to replace competition with collaboration and uphold integrity, competence and excellence in the profession. Outgoing chairperson Ruth Aina said the chapter expanded its membership, welfare support, advocacy and outreach during her three-year tenure. Its activities included visits to women receiving treatment for vesico-vaginal fistula and support for orphanages in Plateau State.
