Peter Obi Tops Nigerian Party-Hopping Charts with Five Affiliations

Peter Obi Tops Nigerian Party-Hopping Charts with Five Affiliations

Peter Obi has switched through five major parties in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic. He began in APGA (2002–2017), moved to PDP (2017–2022), then Labour Party (2022–2025), joined ADC late 2025, and in May 2026 signed with NDC. Rabiu Kwankwaso matches Obi with five parties, while Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar have each been in four, Muhammadu Buhari in three, and Goodluck Jonathan has stayed in PDP throughout. With the 2027 elections on the horizon, Obi and Kwankwaso’s recent move to NDC has reignited discussions on coalition-building, opposition unity, and party stability across Nigeria.

Rather than chasing party labels, focus on each candidate's policy history and community impact before deciding who deserves support.
