AFPAA Urges South Africa to End Xenophobia Against Nigerians
The African Parliamentary Aides Association has condemned recent xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other Africans in South Africa. It has formally appealed to the South African High Commissioner in Abuja to take urgent diplomatic action. In a letter to the embassy, AFPAA President Emeka Nwala called the violence a serious assault on African unity and dignity. He warned that such hostility undermines efforts to build continental cooperation and shared prosperity. AFPAA is pressing for immediate measures to protect African nationals and to hold perpetrators accountable. The association also urged the African Union to coordinate a long-term strategy to tackle the root causes of xenophobia and promote peaceful coexistence across the continent. AFPAA affirmed its commitment to pan-African solidarity and pledged support for any constructive peacebuilding initiative.
