Aina Injury Mars Forest’s Lead as Wood’s Penalty Puts Them Within Reach of Europa Final

Aina Injury Mars Forest’s Lead as Wood’s Penalty Puts Them Within Reach of Europa Final

Super Eagles right-back Ola Aina had to leave the field injured in the 70th minute during Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 semi-final first leg win over Aston Villa. Moments after his substitution, Chris Wood calmly converted a VAR-awarded penalty to give Forest the narrow advantage. The opener came when Omari Hutchinson’s cross struck Lucas Digne’s arm, and Wood smashed the spot-kick into the top corner. Villa pressed for an equaliser but found Stefan Ortega in form. Forest now hold a slim lead ahead of the second leg, with Unai Emery’s men facing a tough task to overturn this deficit.

How significant do you think Aina's injury will be for Nottingham Forest's chances in the second leg?

Do you think Forest's defence depth is enough to cover for Aina's absence in that second leg?

Totally agree, losing Aina here could really tilt the balance, Forest will feel that gap keenly.

A narrow one-goal lead always feels vulnerable, especially after losing a key defender before full time.

I'm not convinced Forest's defense is reliable enough to protect that slim lead in the return fixture.

They should run defensive drills focused on backline cohesion before the second leg to shore up their narrow advantage.
