Anambra Scrap Dealers Pledge Full Support to Environment Commissioner
Members of the National Association of Scraps and Waste Dealers in Anambra State paid a solidarity visit to the new Environment Commissioner, Dr. Clems Aguiyi, at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat in Awka. Chairman Comrade Igboke Stephen Azubuike assured the commissioner of the union’s commitment to a clean and peaceful state. He urged all scrap dealers to register with the union to help identify criminals hiding in the business and to report any law-breakers to security agencies. Commissioner Aguiyi welcomed the support and instructed dealers to secure their premises within 60 days, avoid vandalism of public and private property, and register individually with both the union and the state Ministry of Environment. He also asked the union to profile its members, run awareness programs on these directives, and help ensure the government’s rightful revenue is collected.
