A Nigerian man, Ibro Musa, recently admitted his wife stopped checking his phone because it always led to what he calls “premium tears.” He made this remark while responding to a woman upset about her husband’s secret love messages to another. Marriage therapist Shamseddin Giwa criticized Musa’s claim. She argued that true love is kind and transparent, not something that wounds a partner. According to her, pride in causing a spouse to cry points to emotional abuse, not affection. Giwa warned that if a wife withdraws emotionally, she may be coping by turning to others or simply resigning herself to the pain. She emphasized that being a husband means leading with care, not inflicting hurt and then boasting about it.
