How Ronaldinho’s Coffee Ritual Shaped a Young Messi

How Ronaldinho’s Coffee Ritual Shaped a Young Messi — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Andrea Orlandi recalls how Ronaldinho playfully asked teenage Lionel Messi to make him coffee as a way to keep the young prodigy grounded and welcomed in the Barcelona dressing room. That mentor-mentee bond came to life on the pitch when Ronaldinho provided the assist for Messi’s first senior goal against Albacete in May 2005. The Brazilian legend went on to lead Barcelona to two LaLiga titles and the 2006 Champions League, always praising Messi’s talent. Many believe that early support and affection helped Messi become a record-breaking Ballon d’Or winner and key figure in Barcelona’s future Champions League triumphs.
