Scientists Rush to Develop Four Ebola Vaccines for DR Congo Outbreak
The global vaccine coalition CEO says researchers are racing to create four new vaccines against the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola. Two of the candidates, including ones from Oxford University and Moderna, could reach clinical trials within two months. However, further trials and regulatory approval may still take several more months even if early results prove promising. More than 500 cases have been reported in eastern DR Congo. Experts warn that a proven vaccine would be a game changer, but ending the outbreak could still take months or even years based on past epidemics.
