Teachers Hold Solidarity Rally in Ibadan Demanding Release of Kidnapped Educators and Students
Teachers under the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Oyo State Wing, held a solidarity rally in Ibadan following the abduction of staff and pupils in Oriire Local Government. They gathered at the Nigeria Labour Congress Secretariat to call on authorities to secure their immediate and unconditional release. The procession moved through key areas of the city before stopping at the Governor’s Office in Agodi. Protesters carried banners, sang solidarity songs and stressed that their demonstration was a peaceful appeal rather than a confrontation. Union leaders announced the withdrawal of teaching services in public schools until the victims regain their freedom. They urged the government and security agencies to step up rescue efforts and improve school security. The Oyo State Governor assured the protesters that every effort was being made to bring the captives home safely.
