Highway Horror: 15 Killed, Dozens Injured in Kwara Expressway Crash
Around 2:32 a.m. on the Ilorin–Jebba Expressway, a lone DAF XF truck veered off the road near the Muslim Cemetery area in Kwara State. Of the 48 men on board, 15 died, 17 were injured and 16 escaped unhurt. The Federal Road Safety Corps blamed driver fatigue for the crash. Injured victims were taken to Arewa Medical Centre and Baki Hospital, while families in Moro Local Government Area received the bodies through the Sarkin Hausawa of Oko Olowo. Rescue teams from RS8.15 Oloru Unit and RS8.1 Kwara Command continue to search for anyone who may be trapped beneath the truck’s load. The FRSC says it will intensify public education on avoiding mixed loading, night travel and driving while fatigued.
